Bear with me this is my first blog posting and I have yet to even think about a Twitter account!

Back to Nature is a project supplied by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust in Winchester, Hampshire.

We are working closely with the organisations in the City who offer services for those who are homeless, unemployed or with particular health needs such as mental health or addiction issues.The partnership includes Trinity Winchester and Clems the project has been funded as part of the Winnall Moors Heritage Lottery Funded Project working to restore the wetland and flooded moors.

We are offering a weekly drop in session open throughout the day to those service users who wish to spend some time in nature making use of its restorative powers.

Principally we are spending time on Winnall Moors at Durngate and using this as our inspiration. We want the participants to gain a sense of ownership of this wonderful City centre Nature Reserve and recognise its value beyond a site for rough sleeping and anti social behaviour. We will provide the participants with the opportunities for practical conservation work, identification skills, social skills and their own personal development.

Each session we are introducing new skills in identification, coppicing, bushcraft, conservation theories and the opportunities to further develop those learnt in previous weeks and months.
